If you are interested in different issues in media and society, then I have some articles you should check out! These articles are very informative and well written. There are many issues regarding media and society and there are many articles and blogs written about these issues. But the following are my personal favorites.
Have
you ever wondered how media will affect your infants, toddlers, and children?
Well,
I have two articles for you. The first article I would recommend is called “How
does media exposure affect the development of infants and toddlers?” by Chloe
Suckling. In this article, she discusses how COVID-19 has affected media usage
in babies and toddlers. She brings up some interesting points, one point that I
find very true is that media usage has increased in infants and toddlers since
COVID-19. It makes sense because during COVID-19 many jobs had to switch to
remote working and daycares and schools were not open. So, the infants and
toddlers had to stay home with their parents, and since the parents still had
to work, they needed to find a way to keep their kids entertained. Therefore,
an easy solution is to put on some media, such as YouTube, television, a movie,
or games. There is not yet enough research on the long-term effects, but there
are some short-term effects that have been discovered, which are lower language
skills. It will be interesting to see those long-term effects in the future. I
agree with her that media needs to be consumed in moderation because it does
impact you.
The
second article I would recommend is “For Further Research” by Daniela Hartmanová.
In this article, she discusses how cyberbullying affects children and some
articles that describe what cyberbullying is, violence in the media, and positive
and negative influences on children from the media. I personally believe that when
people think of bullying, they often forget about cyberbullying, which is
extremely relevant in today’s time since most children have some form of social
media. I also believe violence in the media and its influence on children is not
talked about enough so I was happy to see it included in the article. Finally,
there are tons of negative influences of media on children it is also important
to learn about the positive influences too.
If
you are interested in how media affect us psychologically, then I would recommend
the article “Current Events 1.0” by Marya Polovinkina. In this article, she
discusses how current events and watching the news can affect people physiologically.
The current event that is mentioned is the war between Russia and Ukraine and
how it is unbearable to read and listen to the news media about it. People
often forget to take care of their own mental health when consuming all of the information
available to them. I personally have experienced this overwhelming feeling when
consuming new media daily. It is good to know that I am not the only one. She also
gives a link to some tips to follow in her article, which I found very helpful.
If
you are interested in the problem of body image and how it is portrayed in the media,
I would recommend the article “My View” by Dana Palickova. In this article, she
discusses how people see themselves are reflected by what they see in the media.
She says there have been more negative effects found than positive in how people
are affected by this media. These negative views can cause body dissatisfaction
and disordered eating. I also like the fact that she mentions that our family
and friends can influence how we view our body image because we value their
opinion more. I know for me personally, I see these images of people on media
that have got surgery and claim that the results come from working out. In the
past, I have felt bad about my body because I work hard in the gym and do not
see those results. But I have realized that results take time and everybody’s
body looks different and that is normal.
Finally,
if you are interested in learning more about how media has affected the fashion
world, I would check out the article “What The Experts Say 1” by Anastazija
Cvetanoska. In this article, she discusses the power advertising has on social
media. I found it interesting that less popular influencers actually bring more
sales to a company than more popular influencers. This is because the less
known influencers have more trust and intimacy with their followers. After
thinking about this it makes so much sense. It is so important for a business
to build trust with their customers to ensure they become repeat customers.
